Our Parish

The Catholic parish of Whitstable includes the whole town from Swalecliffe to Seasalter, out towards Blean and including Dargate.
 
We have two churches, the parish church of Our Lady of The Immaculate Conception in Northwood Road, Whitstable and St. Joseph's in Chestfield Road, Chestfield (currently closed). We have the valuable Parish Social Centre in Castle Road (just behind the parish church). The Parish Office is located in the Social Centre the address is 15a Castle Road, CT5 2DY.

Holy Mass

Revised January 2025

• Holy Mass will be celebrated at 6 pm on Saturday's, 8.30am and 10.30 am on Sunday's. 
• There will be no Mass celebrated at St Joseph's at this time.
• If you have any COVID-19 symptoms please do not attend.
  
• Mass during the week will normally be on Tuesday & Wednesday at 12.30pm, Thursday & Friday at 10am, and Saturday morning at 11am.
  Please check the newsletter as timings may have to be adjusted on some occasions.
  

Individual Prayer

Our Lady Immaculate church is now normally open for individual prayer from 9am to 4pm on weekdays.

Fund Raising

Dear Parishioners,

Even though access to church buildings was somewhat restricted, the parish is still incurring maintenance and other fixed costs. If you can continue to support the parish it will be gratefully appreciated. The best way to help would be to set up a standing order, gift aided if possible, or to make a cheque donation or a bank credit transfer. Thank you.

Message to all our fellow parishioners from SVP

At this strange and difficult time, should any of you find yourself at home and unable to go out, the SVP are happy to offer help in any way they can. If you need any shopping we can arrange for that to be done and brought to your door. Or perhaps you are feeling lonely and isolated and just want to have a chat with someone. We have a dedicated SVP mobile number which is monitored daily - so please don't hesitate to call and leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Spiritual Communion prayer:

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen

Pope Francis has offered the following prayer for Catholics wishing to make a spiritual communion:

At your feet, O my Lord Jesus I prostrate myself and offer you repentance of my contrite heart, which is humbled in its nothingness and in your holy presence. I adore you in the sacrament of your love. I desire to receive you into the poor dwelling that my heart offers you. While waiting for the happiness of sacramental communion, I wish to possess you in spirit. Come to me, O my Jesus, since I for my part, am coming to you. May your love embrace my whole being in life and death. I believe in you, I hope in you, I love you. Amen

Prayer for Vocations

God our Father: You made each of us to use our gifts in the Body of Christ. We ask that you inspire your people whom you call to priesthood and consecrated life, to courageously follow your will. Send workers into your great harvest so that the Gospel is preached, the poor are served with love, the suffering are comforted and your people are strengthened by your gifts. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Of your charity please pray for the repose of the soul
of Father Kevin St Aubyn
who died Saturday 9th September aged 89,
in the 64th year of his priesthood.

May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
